FAQ

Are Natural Flavours Better? And what is the difference between Natural and Nature Identical?

Not necessarily. They are more expensive and have a shorter shelf life than artificial or nature-identical flavours. Natural flavours have exactly the same chemical profile as nature-identical flavours. The only difference is that natural flavours are extracted from the source, while the nature identical is manufactured in the lab.

What are artificial flavours?

Artificial flavours are lab manufactured compounds that do not occur naturally e.g. an artificial strawberry compound does not occur in the actual strawberry, while it can impart a strawberry note.

Is using flavours bad for you?

No. All the chemicals used to manufacture flavours are FDA approved. In a 1liter flavour, almost 80% is solvent, and the dosages used in the final product are at such a low dosage (+/- 0.1%), that any effect is negligible.

Is the colouring in the flavours harmful?

There is still a lot of controversy surrounding the use of tartrazine in products, since some studies have proved that some subjects might be sensitive to this colourant. However, there are alternatives and as a customer you can specify that you would require your product to be tartrazine-free.

Do your flavours contain any allergens?

None of our flavours contain any allergens and there are no listed allergens products used in the factory.

How much flavour do I need to use?

This may vary according to taste and to the final application. The usual recommendation is 0.1-0.2% of the volume of your final product. However, this is strictly a guideline and with products that go through a heating process you can increase the flavour to 3-4%. The flavour will not influence your nutritional value in any way¸ so an increase in flavour will not warrant an increase in kJ. An easy way to establish that you’ve over-flavoured your product is that you will immediately pick up a bitter taste.

What is your minimum order quantity?

Our minimum order quantity is 1kg. This convenient size is ideal for running small batch trials in a factory or for entry level enterprises that manufacture small quantities at a time. It also allows you as a customer to ensure that you are 100% satisfied with the product and avoids a situation where you are stuck with redundant stock when you are forced to buy a minimum of 25kg.

What are your pack sizes?

Our flavours come in 1kg, 5kg, 10kg and 25kg containers. However, you are free to order any amount eg. 7kg, which will then be made up to your specifications.

Do your flavours contain any GMO’s, pesticides or heavy metals?

None of our flavours contain any of the above.

What is the shelf life of your products?

The shelf life of all emulsions and powders are 6months, while the colourants and flavours are 1 year. Our natural flavours have a shelf life of six months.

Do your flavours have any effect on the nutritional value of my product?

The flavours contain no compounds that can contribute to the nutritional value of the product, making them ideal for diet supplements and sport drinks.
